Job Description

I am currently looking for a Mid/Sr. Project Engineer; Industrial Products for a client of mine who is a global engineering group specializing in extreme environment products and smart sub-systems for aerospace, defense and energy markets. Their civil aerospace presence covers large commercial transports, regional aircraft, business jets, helicopters and general aviation. Its defense markets cover all military aircraft types, land systems, naval platforms and aerial, land-based and marine threat simulation training and weapons systems development. Their group's growing presence in energy is driven by their core fluid controls, heat management and sensing and monitoring capabilities, many of which are deployed to help reduce the maintenance costs, fuel consumption and carbon of industrial gas and steam turbines. * Must have experience in the design and development of fluid control products. Position: Mid/Sr. Project Engineer, Industrial Products Location: North Hollywood, CA Reports to: Sr. Project Engineer Specific Work Duties/Essential Functions: Will be required to develop design concepts for valves used in Industrial Power systems and Industrial gas compression. The individual's responsibilities will include the managing of different projects from proposal stage (including concept development as well as generating written technical proposals) to the certification process (including writing test procedures and managing the test program). The successful candidate must be also capable of representing the company during technical negotiations in addition to supporting the design, development and qualification process of new products. Following the design and development of products the candidate will be required to support their products through the manufacturing cycle. Must be capable of working with fellow engineering and manufacturing team members. Experience in developing some or all of the following types of products is desirable: 1. Globe Valves, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical or electromechanical driven. 2. Pneumatic ball valves operated as described above. 3. Butterfly valves operated as described above. 4. Sleeve valves operated as described above. 5. High temperature (1200 Deg F) pneumatic bleed air controls. 6. Solenoid valves direct operated or pilot operated. 7. Simple shut-off valves 8. Programmable logic Controllers Must be able to manage the project as well as utilize hands-on experience. Expected to lead in the assembly, development, and qualification testing of the product. The candidate must have a good command of the basic engineering principles required of valve design. These skills include the ability to calculate force margins, perform simple stress analysis, and be capable of sizing valve components. Specific skills and/or Experience Requirements: Ten (10) + years experience in the design and development of fluid control products. Desirable Additional Skills: Strong leadership capability to drive designs through the development and manufacturing cycle. Must be able to work with marketing personnel to resolve design issues, technical questions and assist in winning contracts. Minimum Academic Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
