This career opportunity provides new-to-insurance industry professionals with the comprehensive job skills and development training necessary to launch a career in property and casualty underwriting. Our Middle Market strategy targets a wide range of mid-sized businesses from retailers and fitness centers, to contractors and craft breweries with insurance needs up to $300,000 in annual premium.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Determine risk acceptability and communicate resulting decisions to agents- Develop agency partnerships and agency management skills- Ensure agents understand the business market direction, underwriting standards and new business risk profile to generate a flow of quality new business submissions and retention- Seek out new opportunities with existing agents as well as new agency appointments- Analyze financial information to determine performance, identify business trends, and recommend process improvements- Manage agents in designated territory to ensure that targets for new business, renewal retention, loss ratio, and mix of business are achievedPosition RequirementsRequirements:
- Bachelor's Degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher- Legal right to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship, now or in the future- Robust internship and leadership experience- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Ability to adapt to new situations quickly and prioritize tasks and responsibilities- Willingness to be geographically mobile (varies depending on the underwriting position)- Marketing and sales orientation and acumen- Consultative skillsRecognized as one of America's Best Employers by Forbes, The Hanover is proud to be among the top property and casualty insurers in the United States.
