Description:
Reactor Plant Contractors' Office (RPCO) Field Engineer
Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corporation (BMPC) operates
several Laboratory Sites for the Department of Energy.
Our team of over 7,000 people design the world's most
technologically advanced reactor plants and systems. We
support the U.S. Navy Fleet of nuclear powered ships.
RPCO field engineers are on-site representatives of the
Naval Reactors Program laboratories and component supply
organizations. RPCO engineers operate in a fast paced,
dynamic environment and independently exercise authority
to ensure that work is conducted in a safe manner. The
individual will provide engineering support and
independent oversight of work associated with
installation, testing, and modification of reactor plant
systems, components, and safety systems. RPCO engineers
perform audits and surveillance of nuclear work and
operations and provide feedback to on-site management.
This position involves direct interaction with Navy
personnel, shipyard engineering, site organizations, and
local government representatives.
Successful completion of a job-specific qualification is
required for this position. Training associated with
this qualification is expected to take 10-12 months
depending on previous experience and will be conducted
at the Bettis or Knolls Laboratory Site. At the
conclusion of the qualification, the prospective RPCO
Field Engineer will be expected to demonstrate an
adequate understanding of reactor plant requirements and
the ability to function in an engineering and oversight
capacity at a remote location.
This position is and excellent opportunity to obtain
hands-on experience. This is a 3 to 5 year assignment in
a field office upon completion of qualifications.
Selected applicants will be subject to a Federal
background investigation and must meet eligibility
requirements for access to classified matter. U.S.
citizenship is required. Domestic relocation is
available for the selected candidate.
Requirements:
Intermediate:
BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of two years of relevant
experience; or
MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university
Advanced:
BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of four years of relevant
experience; or
MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of two years of relevant
experience
