Job Description


The Municipal Marketing Manager will prospect, sell, manage and participate in account management activities as a municipal representative to ensure the profitable sales growth of municipalities, home owners associations and/or subscription residential business


This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

* Develop and foster positive relationships with municipal elected officials and staff to position Advanced Disposal as the preferred provider of solid waste and recycling services (collection, transportation & disposal) to city and counties alike. Existing political lobbying experience a plus.
* Assure that Advanced Disposal is aware of and has the opportunity to provide bids and/or proposals to each and every municipal service opportunity available
* Prepare informative, responsible, & complete bid/proposal packages for submission to municipal entities and to coordinate the efforts of others' involvement in a timely and responsive manner
* Lobby the advantages of Advanced Disposal's proposal, even if not the low cost proposal, to elected officials, staff, potential customers, media, etc. to build a community-wide consensus in support of Advanced Disposal
* Actively participate in municipal government workshops, committee meetings, ordinance creation/editing, pre-bid/proposal meetings, bid/proposal openings, and the like to ensure that Advanced Disposal's interests are properly represented and understood
* Participate in community projects and build strong relationships with community powerbrokers to enlist their support when necessary
* Build a strong working relationship with local media outlets
* Serve as a liaison between Advanced Disposal and the municipality to ensure immediate response and accountability
* Position Advanced Disposal to renew and extend municipal contracts whenever possible and prior to any required notification date by identifying and marketing renewal opportunities to the cities and counties
* Responsible for notification, calculation & implementation of CPI's both internally and externally to customer
* Coordinate and submit the new and renewal solid waste franchise application process(es) with Advanced Disposal staff
* Serve as the company community affairs representative at local and state charity events, fundraisers and the like to ensure participation on the community
* Perform additional tasks that may be identified during the course of employment as necessary to the success of obtaining and retaining municipal solid waste services

Job Specifics:

* Further develop and maintain CRM (muni database system)
* Proactively research and identify new bid opportunities within and upon the fringe of existing market area
* Report on a weekly basis regarding scheduled meetings and action plans
* Prepare Municipal Bid Summaries for each bid/proposal opportunity
* Attend at least 8 governmental and community meetings each month above and beyond pre-bid and bid opening meetings (examples: monthly council meetings, standing committee meetings/workshops, staff meeting/luncheon/visit, association/club meeting, political fundraiser/event, community project, etc.). This likely will include evening and early morning hours.
* Develop target list of top 10 preferred municipal contracts (expiration dates within two years)
* Tabulate and distribute bid/proposal results after each bid/proposal opportunity and input into CRM bid analysis
* Attend state and local trade shows and events as needed

* Microsoft Office with strength in Word, Power Point and Excel


Education: High School Diploma, GED and/or equivalent work experience. Bachelor's or Associates degree preferred

* Ability to organize office systems through adjusting, connecting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, or folding for the purpose of proper records development and/or management
* Possesses speaking skills and hearing ability to interact with customers on the telephone
