Position Summary: Directs the development, planning,
implementation, and evaluation of the educational
experiences for UHS personnel in Perioperative Services.
Responsible for the development and the oversight of
educational initiatives for Perioperative staff RN s and
techs. Promotes the provision of the highest quality of
patient care within the scope of the Perioperative
Services standards of care. Responsible for presenting
and organizing mock codes, drills, and annual competency
overview, as well as maintenance of accurate Policy &
Procedures. Collaborates with all hospital personnel and
other resources to establish organizational research and
educational short and long-term goals. Conducts the
Perioperative Services Internship and new hire classes.
Must be a Registered Nurse with a valid Texas license
and at least five (5) years Clinical / Management /
Education experience.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. If not, must
obtain within two years of hire.
Current AHA CPR required on hire. Must obtain CNOR,
ACLS, and PALS within 90 days of employment. AORN
membership required within one year of employment. Must
possess communication skills necessary to work
effectively with all levels of personnel in the
healthcare setting, Knowledge of surgical procedures in
order to anticipate surgical equipment, instrumentation,
supply needs, and to function as clinical staff
Must possess excellent oral and written communication
skills and demonstrate team leadership. Must have the
ability to problem solve and think critically. Must
possess creative teaching methodology and design to
facilitate adult learning needs. Knowledge base of
teaching and learning theories, curriculum design, test
measurement, evaluation and research. Proficient in
Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
