Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) is a community teaching medical center located in Newton, Massachusetts on Washington Street. It is affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. It is a member of Partners HealthCare, a network founded by Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Womens Hospital. The Hospital offers a range of medical, surgical and specialty care, including maternity services, a 24-hour emergency department and orthopedic, critical care and oncology inpatient units. SALARY LEVEL:gt; $25,000 JOB DESCRIPTION: The Quality amp; Patient Safety Specialist (QPSS) is accountable for programs and processes related to hospital-wide quality and patient safety outcomes as it relates to practitioners professional practices (examples include MD, CRNA, NP, PA, RN). This includes, but is not limited to, internal, Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), third party payers and Partner Healthcare System reporting. She will work on a daily basis with a wide variety of management and clinical staff to ensure compliance with external reporting requirements and mandates. The QPSS role will be responsible for data collection, data entry, and analysis of quality, patient safety and peer review data. She will be responsible for data display and interpretation, and reporting of this data to a wide range of clinical and administrative leaders both internally and externally. In addition, the QPSS, in conjunction with, the Manager, the Infection Control Practitioner andor Patient Safety Advisor, will lead and manage projects focused on quality initiatives, infection control and patient safety. QUALIFICATIONS: -Bachelors in healthcare or science required, Masters in healthcare-related field preferred. -5 years minimum experience in quality measurement andor improvement, patient safety, or health science research -Demonstrated experience managing large volume projects -Knowledge of state and federal regulations specific to external reporting mandates (e.g. Joint Commission, CMS, DPH, BoRM) -Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, MediTech, rL Solutions, UHC) -Superior organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently -Excellent written and oral communication skills -Excellent Project Management skills -Experience with performance improvement methods, including statistical concepts and applications and data collection -Experience in management and use of databases for data capture and benchmarking -Creativity and enthusiasm for developing and implementing new programs -High degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
