We are currently seeking a National Accounts Sales Representative; this individual has the flexibility to work out of any Ryerson location.
The National Accounts Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying large potential multi-location customers, who cross Ryerson's geographic borders. Additionally, they will be assigned customers who have been identified as high potential to pursue. Starting without a set customer base, the position is for a 'hunter' who relentlessly pursues new opportunities. The NASR will be responsible for establishing relationships at the highest possible level within these 'mega customers' and for soliciting and receiving their annual metals packages. The NASR coordinates all aspects of the bid according to the National Accounts process flow. There will be significant travel to the customers HQ location as well as to large facilities as the customer dictates. The NASR handles the RFP and RFQ process, from coordination of the bid package across the company and the pricing and executive approvals. They are also responsible for working with Legal to negotiate the documents required to manage the contract. After the sale is closed, their responsibilities include frequent interaction with the customer - at all levels of the organization. They must keep executives involved, maintain VAVE and cost-down initiatives, work diligently for organic growth from the customer base and present any/all opportunities to the customer to offer them savings and increase our standing. These include working with our scrap program, our hedging programs, our product management teams, directors of supply chain and technical resources as needed
The candidate must have both inside sales experience and a minimum of five years of experience as an outside sales representative. They must have a demonstrated ability to book larger pieces of business and a complete comfort level with calling on the 'C' Suite. Excellent presentation skills are a must as are skills at building consensus within the organization to work towards a common goal.
The candidate must have deep knowledge of both stainless and aluminum and working knowledge of carbon steel. A critical skill for this job is the desire to relentlessly pursue new business opportunities
