Job Description

Maine Medical Center is a Magnet designated 637 bed tertiary care academic health center and a strategic partner of the Tufts University School of Medicine. We are the largest hospital in northern New England, the only ACS Level-1 Trauma Center in the state of Maine. MMC also houses the Barbara Bush Childrens Hospital, the states only dedicated pediatric hospital. We are working towards the day when diseases are preventable, outcomes are always positive, and the highest quality healthcare is available to all. To support us in our efforts, we are now seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary NICU team of 9 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and 7 Neonatologists. *MMC has the largest level III NICU in New England north of Boston. *NICU is equipped with the most advanced medical equipment designed for infants and houses 28 private rooms, 3 transitional beds and 20 CCN beds. *NICU is staffed on-site with a focused team with special training in neonatal care and works closely with a dedicated transport team that reaches out into the community to bring babies in need to Maine Medical Center for care and rehabilitation. *We have approximately 2,500 deliveries and over 180 ground transports every year and in 2011, we saw approximately 1,000 patients. JOB SUMMARY In this role, you will: *Work closely with families, nurses, physicians, other NNPs and affiliated staff as well as community resources to develop comprehensive and personalized treatment plans for chronic and episodic illnesses. *Take part in a teaching component with Residents and Nurses in our Simulation Lab. JOB REQUIREMENTS *Current Main RN license (or eligibility for same). *MSN from an accredited nursing program. *NNP certification. *Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive nursing experience. *Possess advanced critical thinking, analytical, leadership, management and interpersonal skills. *Have the ability to lead a team while effectively communicating with unit and administrative personnel, physicians, and a variety of other hospital staff and community members.
