Job Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neonatology, seeks a full-time faculty member who will provide coverage at Comer Children's Hospital NICU and off-site hospitals. The successful candidate must have expertise and/or formal training in epidemiology, ethics, medical education, outcome measurements, quality initiatives, and/or simulation. Active engagement in scholarly activity and teaching medical students, residents and fellows is required. Opportunities for leadership positions may be available to candidates with appropriate skills or experience.

The Section of Neonatology has 8 full-time faculty members, a fully accredited fellowship program, and a 71 bed NICU. Its faculty members are actively involved in research supported by federal and other extramural funds.

Prior to the start of employment, successful applicants must: 1) have an MD, or equivalent, 2) have completed an accredited neonatology fellowship training program, 3) be BC/BE in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, 4) have or be eligible for medical licensure in the States of Illinois and Indiana, 5) have cared for newborns requiring intensive care within the past five years, 6) have a commitment to excellence in patient care and medical education, and 7) have a scholarly interest. Rank and salary will be determined by qualifications and experience.
