Network Analyst (100903)
A networking analyst position works closely with a team focused on Active Directory, the clinical information system running on Windows-based platforms, its ancillary products, Citrix, enterprise backup/recovery, and other systems/applications that support Information Technology.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
Bachelor s degree in information technology or computer science, or other related degree, OR four (4) years of networking
(Wintel platform) experience is required.
Two years of networking experience required.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
Master s degree in information technology or computer science preferred
Microsoft, Citrix, VMWare, or Epic CSM certifications preferred.
Design and implementation of Physical and Virtual Enterprise and Windows Servers including IBM/Lenovo, HP, and Dell preferred.
Design and implementation of complex Windows clusters preferred.
Experience with enterprise storage, including the optimal design and implementation of Volume Groups, Logical Volumes and File Systems preferred.
Experience with Microsoft SCCM, Exchange, SQL Server, SCEP, App-V, and other Microsoft infrastructure preferred.
Experience with the design and implementation of a Clinical Information System and the requirements to maintain a secure data environment preferred.
Experience with Citrix XenApp 6.5 and greater, Citrix Licensing, Storefront, Netscalar, Citrix infrastructure, and with publishing applications preferred.
Experience with Windows Operating systems (Server 2012r2/2008r2, Windows 10/8.1/7) preferred.
Experience with security software (McAfee AV, Windows Updates, etc.) preferred.
Experience with VMWare, Veeam, and other virtual technologies preferred.
Experience with a professional help desk support process preferred.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.
Server Architecture and Operating System: Possess knowledge of Server hardware platforms and components. Installs and configures and maintains network server hardware systems and components. Possess knowledge of Windows server operating systems. Installs, configures and supports windows server operating systems, services and features. Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to server hardware and OS. Researches and recommends appropriate server hardware, component and OS implementations. Implements and tests software, firmware and OS updates.
Server Virtualization: Possess knowledge of industry standard server virtualization platforms including VMWare and MS Hyper-V. Creates virtual devices as needed following designs of Senior Analysts. Researches issues and assists senior analyst with problem resolutions related to virtualization infrastructure. Assists with implementing virtualization infrastructure based on Senior Analyst's design.
Directory/User Management/Group Policy Management: Possess knowledge of Active Directory (AD) including Group Policy Management, User/Group/OU management, Site management. Creates Group Polices to manage user experience and provide desktop security. Identifies and resolves issues related to Group Policies, resource access, AD replication.
Application Delivery: Possess knowledge of industry standard application delivery platforms such as Citrix and Microsoft App-V. Follows technical guidelines to deploy hardware and software to support application delivery method. Follows senior analyst's designs to deploy applications into the application delivery framework. Researches issues and documents resolutions to software/hardware issues within the App delivery platform.
Enterprise Messaging: Possess knowledge of industry standard messaging systems such as Microsoft Exchange. Researches and resolves issues with mailflow in and out of internal email systems. Deploys email servers following design specifications of senior analysts. Provides access to shared resources such as shared mailboxes and calendars.
Systems Administration: Possess knowledge of applications specific to the organization but do not have a dedicated support team. Provides problem resolution for applications and supporting hardware.Works with vendor support to install and upgrade applications as required.
Evaluation of Trending Technologies: Researches current information technology trends.
Project Management: Works with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolves problems and exceed expectations. Identify issues affecting work progress and recommends solutions. Work with the team to define tasks and create team work plans with moderate supervision. Actively solicits ideas and opinions from others to efficiently and effectively accomplish specific objectives. Applies problem-solving methodologies and tools to diagnose and solve operational and interpersonal problems. Determines the potential causes of the problem and devises testing methodologies for validation. Analyzes multiple alternatives, risks, and benefits for a range of potential solutions. Takes initiative to ensure that outcomes meet internal and external customer requirements. Solicits feedback on performance.
Adheres to the established policies of the West Virginia United Health System (WVUHS) as well as the policies of the entity or entities where the IT team member is assigned to work and/or employed.
This position may require travel to other WVUHS facilities or affiliated sites to assist with implementations, training, and/or support.
Accepts on-call responsibilities and responds with action, either by phone call or on-site as defined by Department Policy.
Other duties may be assigned.
