Cisco seeks a Network Consulting Engineer to help customers maximize network availability and functionality to achieve their business goals.Position located at Fort Gordon GeorgiaThis Network Consulting Engineer (NCE) will be part of the Cisco Global Government Solutions Group Advanced Services (GGSG AS) Team supporting a large strategic customer in the Federal Government. This NCE will be a key member of the GGSG AS Team and will work part time on-site and remotely. The NCE will work closely with customer engineers, other GGSG Advanced Services Engineers, FED Systems Engineers and the Technical Assistance Center (TAC). Additional responsibilities include educating the customer on new technologies & Cisco break/fix processes, reviewing current design & operational processes for optimization, and developing a trusted advisory type relationship. The primary focus for this NCE will be Cisco Routing and Switching, but security, Unified Communication, and Data Center skills are a definite plus and strongly encouraged. Candidate must be a self-motivated individual that is dedicated to exceeding client expectations, be willing to contribute to team efforts, and possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills, in addition to possessing the following technical skills:
1) Experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting complex large-scale enterprise networks2) Experience in security configuration of network and security devices in a large enterprise environment (routers, switches, firewalls, Optical Switches, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VoIP, etc.) 3) Detailed understanding of TCP/IP protocols 4) Detailed understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, BGP) and layer 2 protocols and technologies 5) Experience in project management, ability to clearly communicate security planning and technology issues verbally on both a formal and informal basis to all levels of client staff or for network security industry events/seminars, and posses experience in team leadership/mentoring. Typically requires BS/CS/Business or equivalent plus 6-8 years experience in a network engineering or telecommunications support environment. MS or CCIE are strongly preferred. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
