Network Engineer

Linium is currently recruiting a Network Engineer for our client in Albany, NY. This is a direct hire permanent position paying a competitive salary based on experience!
Position Details:
The Network Engineer is the primary technologist responsible for engineering, design and operational support of information technology systems within the assigned technology area(s). As a member of organizational project teams, the Network Engineer identifies, evaluates, recommends, and implements new technologies in support of the organizational objectives. Ensures system performance, and manages capacity and growth through effective planning processes. The Network Engineer is the focal point for troubleshooting activity within the assigned discipline as problems arise. The Network Engineer develops and maintains relationships with other technology teams and internal business partners, ensuring a high level of quality for all systems within his or her scope. The Network Engineer works closely with vendors and other external partners as needed. Participates in organizational disaster recovery exercises and tests as necessary. Additional hours and weekend/holiday work may be required as a condition of the position
Responsibilities include:
Understanding business objectives to design and implement innovative technology solutions
Manages technology architectures and roadmaps, and ensures currency of technology platforms
Acts as a primary resource for troubleshooting and resolution of all issues affecting supported technology platforms, and is proficient with technologies, standards, and protocols within assigned discipline
Proactively monitors performance of hardware & software, and recommends changes to improve the performance of systems
Effectively communicates technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Assists in the development, maintenance, and testing of a disaster recovery plan for technical infrastructure
Develops and maintains relationships with other technology teams and internal business partners, ensuring a high level of quality for all systems
Adapt to changing work priorities and a fast paced environment while maintaining a professional attitude
Suggest, support and participate in quality initiatives
Requirements and Skills:
6-8 years experience designing, implementing and supporting technologies within the assigned technology area required
B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or other relevant discipline required. Significant work experience may be considered in place of degree.
Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 Server, Windows XP/Windows 7 desktop, Microsoft Office 2003/2007 administration required
Experience working with Wintel is highly desirable
Experience working with Blue Coat application delivery network tools is highly desirable
Cisco network infrastructure, including installation, integration, configuration and tuning of complex networks. VPN, Load Balancing, ISP, LAN/WAN Standards & Protocols, OSI preferred
VMWare 3.5 ESX server/VSphere 4.0 preferred
Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems. IT Security concepts, risks, methodologies preferred
Network and systems management/analysis tools preferred
Business Operations, Disaster Recovery and/or Business Continuity preferred
Well-versed in IT industry trends, concepts, solutions, best practices and methodologies preferred
