Summary
Operates Corporate data communication systems. Assist Senior Network Engineers with planning, designing and implementing local and wide-area solutions between multiple platforms and protocols (including IP and VOIP). Will be first line of support for troubleshooting network issues, and coordinates with engineering teams and vendors for the installation and configuration of routers, switches, and media gateways. Will perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations. Will also monitor performance, system utilization, service reliability and assist with capacity planning.

Minimum Requirements
Education:
-Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science with Network focus, or two years of equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience, or Characteristics
-2+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, or related data center management in an enterprise IT environment.
-Fundamental understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
-Fundamental understanding of TCP/UDP protocols used in enterprise services.
-Fundamental understanding of general network topologies in an enterprise environment.
-In-depth experience performing network analysis using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.
-Demonstrated experience of enterprise-level networking, including IP subnetting, switching and routing protocols, and specific service level network protocols including VPN and SNMP.
-Demonstrated experience of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, QoS, 802.11).
-Demonstrated experience with managing network devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, proxy servers, and wireless APs)
-Knowledge of VoIP signaling protocols, including SIP and voice codec implementation.
-Experience with Fiber Channel Switches (SPF, FSPF) a plus.
-Experience with Telco Facilities (DS1, DS3, OC3, GigE) a plus.
-Experience with Juniper devices and Junos OS is a plus.
-Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
-Must be available to support a 24x7 production environment, including managing escalation of issues after business hours.

Physical and Mental Requirements
Job involves considerable physical exertion such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis, and/or assuming awkward positions for periods of time.
