JOB DESCRIPTION

In the process of implementing an Enterprise Asset Management application. This application will be used by all business units to track all assets in their respective areas. The users will be accessing this application using handheld devices and/or their PCs from approximately 1500 locations spanning 5 boroughs, Long Island and Connecticut. In order to provide network connectivity at these locations, it is required to retain the services of consultants to perform and coordinate the field survey and complete the survey forms. The consultants will also be required to perform Engineering Solutions including but not limited to site visit coordination, cabling estimates, creating/updating network diagrams. The consultants will work with IT Project Managers for coordination and scheduling with various business units.

Network Engineer

Responsibilities:

Design LAN/MAN/WAN infrastructure (wired and Wireless) with Copper and Fiber cable plant using Cisco switches and WAPs.

Supervise copper/Fiber cabling installation by vendor in office and industrial environment

Monitor and troubleshoot WAN circuits

Quickly solve moderate level complex problems relating to network connectivity and performance

* Ability to create/modify detailed Visio or other network drawings.
* Review and prepare Scope/Specification documents
* Some knowledge of power and heat load requirements is desirable
* Ability to review detailed labor estimates for cabling and make recommendations.

Required skills and experience in one or several of the following areas -

EIGRP and BGP redistribution, integration, traffic shaping, map classing and HSRP

Configuring Cisco CatOS and IOS, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches and routers

Have good understanding of the OSI layers 1-7

In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP Protocol and related TCP/UDP ports

Ability to work various shifts and be on call to support a 24x7x365 network

CCNA certification desired

Must have Cisco wireless networking knowledge

Knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, RIP etc.

Knowledge of data cabling standards
