Network Engineers (Job #3206)

SLAIT Consulting is currently seeking a Network Engineer for our client in Newport News, VA.

Our client is in need of a Network Engineer for a two-year contract position to assist in the deployment of their VOIP system to 1400+ sites.

Candidates should either be actively in a networking position or have been in a networking position within the last year.

Job Description:
* Monitor the Network using tools such as HP OpenView Operations, Compuware, Scutinizer, and Verizon Customer Reporting Center.
* Troubleshoot and isolate network failures and performance issues; work closely with vendors for resolution.
* Responsible for configuring, installing, maintaining, and replacing routers, switches, access points, and various other networking devices.
* Run scheduled tests on backup circuits and troubleshoot failures.
* Review firewall logs to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
* Work to resolve networking related issues with end users and other groups within IT.
* Act as an escalation point for Frontline groups on networking issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Advanced computer skills
* Understanding of basic data networking concepts -Understanding of basic IP telephony
* Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at a time
* Detail oriented
* Work well within a team environment
* Usually has 0-2 years of data communications experience
