JOB DESCRIPTIONNetwork Implementation Engineer II will be responsible for test and turn-up of related work for IP based elements within Network Implementation.? Daily responsibilities will include performing advanced problem resolution, proactive audits and the configuration of new IP elements within multiple IP routed Nextel platforms. The incumbent will also be responsible for performing element hardware/software upgrades and configuration of routing on certain IP elements in a live production environment.? The incumbent will also need to possess the ability to prioritize issues, deal with multiple competing priorities, and remain focused in a fast paced work environment.? The ideal candidate will have in depth hands on knowledge of Cisco IP based elements, a solid understanding of OSI layers 1-3 and work effectively with various organizations.? A team player is a critical component of this position. The Network Implementation team provides implementation support for Wireless Data Services, OAMP platforms and Telephony elements across customer bearing, revenue generating Nextel Wireless and Wireline networks. Additional Requirements: Cisco CCNA, CCNP or other Cisco certifications preferred with a minimum of 2 years hands on experience supporting IP platforms.? 5-8 years related work experience required.
Specific request for this position:
Test Ops is looking for an Engineer to perform Cisco/Juniper code upgrades on productions routers, the individual must have Cisco and Juniper experience
--Working knowledge of Cisco GSR/CRS and Juniper MX80/240/960 operating system and hardware.
--Must be familiar with BGP, ISIS routing
--Must be familiar with route-map and community based policy routing on IOS-XR code.
--Must be able to follow and critique written Method of Procedures (MOP) or write one
--Must be detail oriented, and be able to write a report of issues encountered pre/post migration.

The Routed Network Team (RNET) is looking for a Test Engineer?to provide technical support in the execution and maintenance of the production network.? Follows proven processes to ensure the quality of new software and hardware does not negatively impact our customers, perform feature/new product testing and software/hardware validation for major systems with no direct supervision. Candidate has understanding of two or more systems/platforms both inside and outside the organization.
The Test Engineer candidate should have a thorough understanding of IP routing, switching and the OSI model.? The candidate would have experience with Cisco and Juniper firewalls, routers and switches.? Plans, designs, troubleshoot and resolve problems in order to stabilize and optimize the network to meet customer requirements for both software and hardware. Configures and integrates different IP elements and solutions in new and live customer networks.?
The Test Engineer within Test Operations will be responsible for:
--Assist to develop test plans and test moderately complex new feature functionality which provides new products and services, and includes items which enhance systems flexibility, reliability and maintainability.
--Perform moderately complex integration and regression testing on new software.
--Manage moderately complex software patch testing and applications.
--Provide first level assistance for trouble resolution.
