* Oversee and coordinate workflow and 24x7 duty scheduling of managed personnel
* Communicate with other departments within the company to ensure that the Backbone Support Engineering department delivers responsiveness and service quality which meet expectations and business requirements
* Maintain and implement policies and procedures, ensuring relevance and usefulness to the department's areas of responsibilities
* Oversee technical documentation creation for tasks performed by Backbone Support Engineers
* Develop training curriculum and materials for use with new staff
* Establish promotion objectives and related evaluation testing for use with existing staff
* Establish performance monitoring metrics to demonstrate effectiveness and efficiency of staff deliverables
* Aggregate feedback from Backbone Support Engineers to provide "operational conscience" for use with new networkarchitecture designs
* Provide guidance to Network Tools staff to enhance value of monitoring, alerting, and automation software
* On-call 24x7 manager-on-duty week in a rotation with other networkmanagers, providing oversight and customer communications during service-disrupting incidents
* Participate in customer escalation calls to work through solutions planning and post-mortem of service troubles
* Participate in network hardware vendor summary calls to ensure engineers and vendors are working effectively to support the company's needs
* Oversee scheduled maintenance planning and communications


* 8+ years of experience in Network operations or engineering in a multi-vendor environment, including Cisco and Juniper routers
* 3+ of experience in managing a team of networking staff
* Bachelor's Degree in a computer related field or equivalent experience
