Job Description:

Full-time, on-site contractor within the Signal and Information Processing Division at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) in Adelphi, Maryland. This position requires performing a variety of tasks in support of a diverse research environment. Responsibilities include system/network administrator duties to develop, build, install, configure, and maintain networked and standalone PC and Linux based computer systems. Work in a laboratory that comprises the network infrastructure, physical and virtual services, and workstations needed to support the mission requirements. Perform hands-on troubleshooting remotely or in person, including installing and upgrading software, hardware, managing files, and configuring systems and applications. Maintain network security and backup/recovery processes for government specific networks. Serve as the data transfer point of contact, update anti-virus software, and ensure virus definitions are up-to-date as required. Work with ARL IT support staff to maintain compliance with all Information Assurance requirements. Skills/KnowledgeCertifications desired: CISA, GCIH, CISSP, GCED, CASP CEBS in Information Technology, Computer Science or related degree is strongly preferred however not required.Excellent oral and written communications skills Primary responsibilities Working as a Windows and Linux system administrator for multiple users and systems Configuration and maintenance of Amazon Gov Cloud services Identifying and resolving user problems using IT software and hardware diagnostic tools Configuration of TCP/IP networks in the virtual environment, including VLANs, routing, and virtual switches Performing data backups, configuration, and allocation of network storage Interaction with IAM personnel to meet government network security requirements Analysis and reporting network and system status to all users Prerequisites:US citizenship requiredAbility to secure a security clearance
