System One is working with a professional services and systems integration company that provides technological solutions to military and civilian government agencies, the human resources industry, non-profit associations, and private-sector organizations who are currently seeking a NETWORK/SYSTEMS ENGINEER to work on a Permanent - direct hire basis in ALEXANDRIA, VA starting ASAP!!


Individuals assigned to this position support the corporate infrastructure, provide knowledge and experience in establishing and implementing corporate priorities and strategy for operational and secure infrastructure in support of the corporate mission.


The Network/Systems Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and integration of the corporate WAN, LAN, and server architecture. This individual will also be responsible for implementation and administration of networksecurity hardware and software, enforcing the networksecurity policy, and complying with requirements of external securityaudits and recommendations. Perform high-level systems functional analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and implementation of complex application that require thorough administrative and technical skills.


* Analyzes, troubleshoots, and corrects network problems remotely and on-site

* Performs analysis of networksecurity needs and contributes to design, integration, and installation of hardware and software

* Maintains and administers perimeter security systems such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems.

* Performs analysis of networksecurity needs and contributes to design, integration, and installation of hardware and software

* Monitors security system logs (i.e. intrusion detection system, firewall system logs, etc.) and reports on discovered anomalies or problems (i.e. insufficient disk space, inappropriate access patterns) on a weekly basis

* Modifies and maintains networksecurity policy

* Assists with networksecurity assessments for potential business partners

* Installs and maintains servers, routers, switches, and other appliances within the corporate enterprise.

* Tests new computer/router/switch hardware and software solutions prior to implementation

* Designs and implements remote connectivity solutions including IPSec, VPN, PPTP, and SSLVPN

* Administers and configures Windows systems, as needed

* Uses sniffers and other tools to troubleshoot and isolate network problems

* Keeps fully abreast of trends and changing technologies as they relate to IT and NetworkEngineering and Information Security fields

* Engages in continuous process improvement

* Designs and prepares system and subsystems architecture, technical reports, diagrams and related documentation to include charts and graphs

* Provide clear and concise security requirements that meet corporate direction, regulatory requirements and security best practices

* Review project solutions designs to ensure security requirements are met

* Implement security solutions, and provide technical leadership during the design, development, and testing phases of major initiatives.

* Ensure security controls are implemented and operating effectively as part of solutions delivery

* Research, formulate and present detailed security positions relative to new technologies

* Cost benefit analysis techniques in assessing options for mitigating risks threats and exposures to acceptable levels

* Managing and reporting status of identified risks

* Performs other related duties as may be required


* Minimum of 5years directly related work experience in network, security administration/engineering

* Industry security certifications preferred (CISSP, CISA, CCNA, etc.)

* You should be familiar with the FedRAMP program

* Prior hands-on professional experience must include Windows Servers 2012, 2008, 2003, Barracuda Firewalls. Cisco ASA, and/or Linux experience would be a plus

* Working knowledge of operating systems including Windows Servers 2012, 2008, and 2003.

* Working knowledge of networksecurity, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, authentication mechanisms, encryption technologies, and networking protocols including SMTP, HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and SNMP

* Working knowledge of virtualization technologies

* Strong analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills are essential

* Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential

* Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel both internally and externally; e.g. leadership, executives, clients, vendors, and agencies

* Ability to work in and constructively contribute to team work environment and meet stringent deadlines

* Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

* Attention to detail and follow through including the ability to document work

* Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information is essential


* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or other relevant field

CLEARANCE LEVEL: Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance
