Job Description
The Division of Neurodevelopment Pediatrics seeks a third full-time Developmental Pediatrician to join it's growing, clinically oriented practice. Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics is a Division of Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Physicians, members of The Spectrum Health Medical Group (SHMG). The Spectrum Health Medical Group is a growing, physician led, multispecialty practice. For more information, visit w.shmg.org.Highlights and qualifications of the opportunity include:* In addition to two full-time Developmental Pediatricians, our team includes three Advanced Practice Practitioners (NP's), as well as other staff such as social work, psychology, feeding technicians, a dietitian and support staff.* The scope of our practice includes addressing the often complex medical needs of children who have or are at risk for developmental disabilities and their families throughout childhood and adolescence.* Within Neurodevelopmental, The Gerber Center for Infant Development and Nutrition supports the follow-up care of infants from birth to age three with nutrition, growth and developmental challenges.* The Neurodevelopmental team currently holds four clinics including: Neurodevelopmental, Pediatric Feeding, Infant Progress and Developmental Assessments Clinics. The Division also includes the Intensive Feeding Program, which provides inpatient and outpatient intensive feeding therapy to the most vulnerable children with feeding issues.* Shared call schedule between three physicians. Primary academic partner of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine offering academic appointments for qualified candidates* Teaching responsibilities are available in fully accredited Michigan State University affiliated Pediatric and Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency programs, as well as medical students from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine rotate on the service.* The Division is actively engaged in research and current studies include: the ELGAN study which received NIH funding, the NICU single room design study in collaboration with the Neonatologists and funded by The Gerber Foundation, as well as a study in collaboration with the Vermont Oxford Network looking at extreme low birth weight and hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.* Our new free standing 212-bed Helen DeVos Children's Hospital opened in January, 2011.
