JOB DESCRIPTIONThe News Office of the University of Chicago is seeking an enterprising writer and media relations officer to cover the renowned scientific and research work at the University of Chicago.
This position requires a skillful, energetic and prolific writer with an eye for story ideas that illustrate the University's research achievements and their impact in the world. The News Officer for Physical Sciences and Molecular Engineering will report and write about significant research in the physical sciences and molecular engineering and other research areas as needed, and will engage in strategic planning around University initiatives to create focused and effective communications campaigns. This communications professional will develop creative ways to tell stories through digital and multimedia platforms; work with reporters to coordinate requests and arrange interviews with experts; train faculty, students and staff to work with media; and write stories, announcements and other pieces for the University web site and other venues. The News Officer for Physical Sciences and Molecular Engineering will work in conjunction with fellow professionals in the News Office, the University Communications team, faculty, students, administrators and communicators in other University units and affiliated or cooperating organizations.
