Department: Nuclear Medicine

Job Summary

This employee must be competent in the operation of such Nuclear/PET equipment as: well counter, detectors, camera system, dose calibrators, quality control analyzer, survey meters, and computers. This employee must have a competent working knowledge of the current uses and proper handling of radiopharmaceuticals, and will be responsible for accurately following departmental procedures, techniques and following ALARA radiation safety guidelines. This employee should have a thorough knowledge of assaying, calculating patient doses, tagging, current techniques and mixing solutions. This employee must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, physicians, and with patients.

Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of ALL Nuclear Medicine/PET Equipment, including current computer systems in department.
Responsible for quality control procedures in Nuclear Medicine/PET in accordance with the Quality Management Program regarding Radiation Protection regulations.
Working knowledge of general nursing, including CPR, for patient care.
Responsible for maintaining accurate records pertinent to Nuclear Medicine in which are accountable to NRC, JCAHO, State Department of Human Resources, Radiation Protection Division, OSHA, and ACR.
Ability to deal tactfully, sympathetically with patients at all times, maintain good public image.
Ability to instruct other employees and students in the practical aspects of departmental techniques, procedures, and policies.
Responsible for setting up proper equipment and departmental techniques/protocols, assist Director/Supervisor and PET/CT Coordinator in research.
Ability to perform all Nuclear Medicine/PET procedures.
Obtain full knowledge of PHS, ClinStar, FormFast and Report 2 Web.
Responsible to prevent potential radioactive spills and patient over dosage of radioactive material.
