General Summary: The Nurse in Charge is a designated clinical leader for a patient care area who works under the supervision and in collaboration with the Nurse Manager to plan and coordinate care at the service/department level. The Nurse In Charge provides for and utilizes staff appropriately; Matching assignments with patient care needs and competencies. Is accountable for cost effective decision-making regarding utilization of resources. (I.e., human resources, patient care environment, supplies, etc.) and day to day operational decision making. Participates in the development of patient care standards. Assists with the assessment and evaluation of staff performance. Facilitates staff orientation and continuing education. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the quality improvement plan. Maintains a clinical environment that demonstrates service excellence. Functions as a professional role model and resource person. Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
Minimum Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse; Bachelor of Science degree in nursing preferred. CPR Certified. Minimum of three (3) years of related clinical experience. Candidate must be: Capable of assessing current activities problems in a clinical setting, evaluating alternative approaches and implementing programs/practices which impact the scope of the problem. Capable of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with members of the health care team.
Experienced bilingual candidates, who, in addition to English, are fluent in speaking, writing and interpreting Spanish, French, Portuguese or Mandarin Chinese are strongly encouraged to apply. Full-time Day/ Evening rotations Bachelors degree is preferred Licensed in the State of MD or Compact State (RN) 3-5 years experience is required Computer skills required Customer service skills required Good communication skills required Recent experience in the specialty area is required
