Job Summary: The Nursing Informaticist is responsible for providing proficient, professional, and skilled support for The William W. Backus Hospital s Meditech Client Server environment and approximately150 other state of the art clinical, financial, physician, and administrative applications that involve a nursing component. The hospital has a progressive Management Information Systems department that is moving toward the goal of a totally integrated electronic medical record.

The Nursing Informaticist will work as a senior member in a team environment to implement and support current and new applications and upgrades. The Nursing Informaticist will also provide training to other nursing staff on the various applications and will frequently collaborate with various hospital departments and physician practices to maximize the efficiency and use of electronic information systems by nurses.

Education:
Bachelor s degree in Nursing, Health Care, or related specialty, and/or equivalent experience/training.

Experience:
A minimum of six (6) years of information systems and nursing experience. A working knowledge of the Meditech environment is preferred, not required.

License and Certification:
A current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practice Nurse in the State of Connecticut. Exempt Days
