Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager is designated as the leader for the specified patient care area(s), the patient population of that area, and assigned staff in order to achieve desired outcomes. This position assumes responsibility and accountability for systems function, staff performance, and patient care during hours of operation.

Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):

1. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Managerial Competencies.
2. Provides for the execution of outcomes based practice, and directs staff in its application.
3. Provides input for education programs through assessment of staff needs.
4. Evaluates the level of care provided by the unit staff.
5. Promotes Medical Center objectives for patient satisfaction through communication of data and the implementation of methods to sustain or resolve patient satisfaction issues.
6. Creates unit based indicators as mandated or necessary, integrating functions of standards development, continuing education, credentialing, performance appraisal, concurrent monitoring, utilization review, risk management, and active problem identification.
7. Acts as a 'Retention Officer' for areas of responsibility and the department as a whole and implements strategies directed towards retention and recruitment of all nursing and non-nursing employees.
8. Maintains current knowledge of the professional and regulatory standards and communicates these standards to area of practice as needed.

MON - FRI 9:30AM - 6:00PM
Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:
* Bachelor's degree in nursing required, Master's highly preferred.
* Minimum of 3 years management experience and 5-10 years of OR experience required.

Required Certification/Licensing:
* Current valid NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license.
* Maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support HCP Certification
