Responsible for daily department operations. Directs and coordinates, with supervisors, the activities of the department/s. Reviews and analyzes reports, records and directives. Monitors and analyzes costs, prepares budgets in partnership with the director. Monitors and analyzes capital needs.. Evaluates, develops and implements process improvements to enhance effectiveness. Responsible for the hiring, promoting, discharging and transferring of employees, including recruitment and retention requirements. Ensures a successful patient experience in accordance with the goals, requirements, and standards of OU Medical System. Responsible for scheduling and staffing needs of the unit; available for staffing needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Active mentorship and development of supervisors and staff. Arranges appropriate in-services and continuing education programs to meet the needs of the staff. Ensures the proficiency of the staff on the unit. Collaborates with peers, medical staff and other key stakeholders. Responsible for implementation of unit tactics to align with the department, hospital and system goals.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and a baccalaureate degree in Nursing. A master s in nursing meets this requirement if the baccalaureate is in another major. Consideration may be given to candidates with five or more years of experience as a hospital manager who do not have a baccalaureate degree in nursing but agree to complete such a degree within three years.
Three (3) years of supervisory or charge nurse experience.
Possession of a valid temporary license or permanent license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse prior to entrance on duty (permanent license must be obtained within 3 months of appointment). Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR).
