Our legacy of unsurpassed patient care and unceasing mission to integrate high-tech medical research with clinical operations has led to our prestigious standing as one of the top 10 hospitals in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report. The medical center's employees are one of the most important reasons why we are recognized as one of the nation's best hospitals. To work at UCSF Medical Center is to be part of an institution that provides the highest caliber of care to patients; a nurturing, dynamic and team-oriented atmosphere in which to best use your skills and talents.

Department Description

The UCSF Cardiology Clinic uses the most sophisticated tools to diagnose heart and vascular disease in people who may be at high-risk, such as those with a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or those nearing middle age and worried about a lifestyle that has been harsh on the heart.

Screening in the Cardiology Clinic consists of laboratory tests to measure the amounts of fats and cholesterol in the blood, and a combination of non-surgical imaging technologies that provide physicians a window into the heart. Also, the full range of heart disease prevention and treatment are available from drug therapy to invasive procedures and surgery.

Cardiologists are involved in a wide range of basic (laboratory) and clinical (patient) research. UCSF's strength over the years has been the investigation of new therapies for heart disease, such as catheter ablation of heart rhythm disturbances. More recently, we have begun to study the application of stem cells to the treatment of heart disease.
