The incumbent will provide and coordinate the care of patients with aortic or valvular disease, provide patient/family education, and promote safe continuity of care. The incumbent will participate in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provide education and support as well as make appropriate referrals. Working with the Medical Directors and Cardiovascular Center Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) coordinates all procedures for patients in the UCLA Aortic and Valve Centers and all necessary related services. The NP is responsible for the supervision of all related nursing and administrative staff. The NP accepts responsibility for upgrading and maintaining relevant nursing care policies and procedures to current practice standards for the involved Centers, and provides direct patient care as ordered and in compliance with current approved NP protocols. He or she is responsible for assessing, implementing and evaluating the health care and teaching needs of patients, managing any relevant quality data bases and independently acts as case manager/coordinator for patients with acute and chronic conditions.


Current California NP licensure. Master's Degree in Nursing required. Current BLS certification. 2 years or greater of ICU experience as an RN or NP preferred. 2 - 5 years of Cardiovascular nursing experience strongly preferred.

Ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other software programs. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel. Skill in working independently and following through with minimum direction. Ability to set priorities. Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondence. Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner.
