NURSE PRACTITIONER, NEUROSURGERY FOCUSING ON SPINE PATIENTS

Outpatient, Monday-Friday, no call and no weekends!

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*

Initiate and perform consultations in accordance with Rush rules and regulations.
*

Prescribe medications to the extent delegated.
*

Utilize research and evidence-based practice to guide decision making to ensure the highest quality patient care.
*

Demonstrate advanced critical thinking in the care and management of patients.
*

Provide education and support to nursing staff, students, house staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
*

Assume a leadership role in clinical and system analytical problem solving and advancement of clinical practice.
*

Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that establish and maintain professional relationships with coworkers and other members of the healthcare team.
*

Work to establish a relationship with the patient characterized by mutual respect, empathy, and collaboration.
*

Collaborate with interprofessional team members to meet patient needs and ensure continuity of care.
*

Serve as a consultant and mentor to healthcare team members in solving patient or care delivery system problems.



KNOWLEDGE:

*

Current State of Illinois RN and APN licensure required.
*

Minimum of six months of clinical practice as an RN required.
*

Master s or Doctorate degree in Nursing required.
*

Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner educational program.
*

Nurse Practitioner certification from a national certifying organization required.
*

CPR and ACLS certifications required.



SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

*

A high level of analytical ability is required.
*

Good interpersonal and communication skills are required in order to lead, teach, and interact effectively with healthcare personnel and families.
*

Knowledge of electronic medical records.
*

Ability to interact effectively with others in high-stress situations.
