JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who will be responsible for providing patient care and education for endocrinology and diabetes patients in collaboration with our physicians. This includes health assessments of various endocrine disorders, extensive diabetes education, physical exam, telephone triage, and referrals. The Nurse Practitioner will also provide evaluation of diabetes self-care, education and management to patients with diabetes referred to the practice. The Nurse Practitioner should be interested in working with general endocrinology and diabetes patients and must be comfortable making adjustments for insulin, insulin pumps and making diabetes/endocrine related decisions.
1. Registered professional with additional specialized formal education in physical assessment, management of the disease entities of the adult including educational and psychosocial needs.
2. Qualified to assess and recognize changes in the physical condition of the adult patient, in particular, he/she with diabetes, notifying the supervising physician when necessary. The nurse practitioner functions interdependently with the supervising physician or designee, in order to provide optimum health care to patients.
3. Masters degree in Nursing.
4. A record of license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the state of Massachusetts and a copy of the nurse practitioners certification will be obtained.
