JOB DESCRIPTIONUnder the direction and supervision of the licensed medical Hospitalist Physician, the Nurse Practitioner, in the Department of Medicine, will provide routine diagnostic, preventive, and treatment services to patients, specifically related to inpatient management. The incumbent will have a primary focus of performing medical history and physicals, assessments and plans, and consultations for patients admitted to Episcopal Hospital and Temple Main.
Under the supervision of a collaborating physician, the Nurse Practitioner provides relevant health instruction and counseling. Performs patient interviews to ascertain medical history and conducts routine physical examinations as required. Performs assessments and plans to determine treatment modalities. Follows-up on referrals to ensure patient compliance with health care recommendations. Works closely with other departments and physicians to coordinate internal and external ancillary services. Assists in the development of nursing and nurse practitioner protocols. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner by the Pennsylvania Board of Medical Education and Licensure.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems within established policies, and use independent judgment.
*Must maintain continuing education requirements for licensure, and remain up-to-date in area of practice.
*Ability to manage projects.
*Ability to operate all standing office equipment and software including MS Office.
*Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and patients.
*Experience using EPIC.
