Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant-Inpatient Oncology

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Physician Assistant is an integral part of the Oncology team, performing inpatient assessments, coordinating work-ups, participating in rounds, performing assigned procedures, supporting inpatient case management (including orders, progress notes, and discharge coordination) and facilitating enrollment/adherence to COG protocols. In conjunction with Oncology team members, the individual will facilitate the provision of optimum health care for these patients and family members.
Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or completion of Physician Assistant Program.
License/Certification: Licensed to practice nursing and current California Nurse Practitioner certificate. Current BLS Certification. Or current California Physician Assistant licensure.
Experience: 2 years pediatric nursing experience. Pediatric Oncology experience is required. Specialized educational preparation and/or extensive clinical experience in specialty area. Bi-lingual Spanish communication highly preferred.
Skills & Abilities: Computer knowledge Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work as part on an interdisciplinary team. Ability to work independently, problem solve and prioritize demand. Ability to perform bone marrow and biopsies and lumbar punctures. Case management/utilization management or experience with health care provider systems. Good patient assessment/communication and interaction skills.
Medical Staff Membership: Required in order to practice at this facility
