Under the supervision and direction of the Medical Director of the Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) Program, and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the State of Massachusetts governing the Nurse Practitioners practice, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for the care of patients assigned to the MGH TOS program in the Division of Thoracic Surgery. The NP will coordinate and assist in assessment and management of patients in the TOS clinic to include preoperative assessments, treatment of TOS patients, and performing outpatient procedures including removing surgical drains. The NP will obtain patient histories, perform comprehensive physical examinations on patients, coordinate tests and consultations, implement treatment plans, communicate with referring physicians, and perform patient education. This role is a unique, challenging and exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner who thrives on participating in a state-of-the-art outpatient practice environment. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining state licensure in good standing and promotes a collaborative relationship and effort between the medical staff and professional nurses toward continuity of patient care and efficient use of resources. The incumbent should serve as a role model for professional nursing practice.
ANCC certification and authorization by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing to practice in the expanded role. DEA and Massachusetts DPH for prescription writing.

Must complete and be approved through the MGH credentialing process prior to practicing.

Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.

Graduate of a Masters program with a degree in advance practice nursing.

National certification in advanced practice nursing area.
