The OR Manager assists in the daily oversight of operations and activities associated with procurement, distribution, and staffing throughout the OR, PTU, PACU, TRU, MPU, and Surgery Center for the Westwood campus of UCLA Health with heavy emphasis on the OR.
Critical daily job duties include staff assignments, their receiving / stocking of purchased supplies, and their processing of replenishment orders. The incumbent will also serve as a liaison over new and substitute product requests and a consolidated backorder report in conjunction with purchasing and administrative staff. Oversight expands over all three round the clock shifts and weekends including over the evening shift that picks cases.
To facilitate communications and collaboration with senior management and among the various shifts, the OR Manager will also be responsible for daily activity reports and periodic walkthroughs to identify opportunities to better maintain JAHCO, CMS, and other regulatory agency standards. The OR Manager will be responsible for ensuring adequate staff coverage for the OR across all shifts and day (24/7).


A minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience within a hospital OR is required. A BA or BS is preferred.The ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive and extremely organized.This person must be very knowledgeable in the disposable supplies associated with the various services found within major medical center procedural areas.

Experience and proficiency with supply chain management software systems to place and track orders is essential as well the ability to identify and communicate trends via excel.

As a liaison to the clinical, purchasing, and senior management, this person must have strong interpersonal communication and writing skills as much of the communications is done both orally and electronically in a very fast-paced environment.

As the incumbent will need to occasionally assist his or her staff, the ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs. in sometimes a repetitive motion if stocking is critical.

Experience overseeing case cart picking is preferred.

Experience in working with Lawson or another supply management platform is a plus.

Experience maintaining par locations by updating items and levels is preferred.

Experience organizing and setting up new supply carts with ordering bar codes is a plus.

Central Service, Supply Chain, Materials Management, Surgical Tech, or SPD Certifications a plus.
