Varian Imaging Components is currently seeking an Occupational Nurse for their Salt Lake City, Utah operation. This role is responsible for providing programs and services to safeguard and enhance the safety, health, and wellness of employees. This role will be part of the EH&S Team.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties & responsibilities:
Comply with and understand all safety rules and job hazards. Perform job responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner.
Perform all OSHA required medical screenings in a timely manner
Treat on the job injuries and make referrals as deemed necessary
Maintain all employee health records
Evaluate Audiograms and make recommendations as necessary.
Perform Respirator Physicals and evaluate test results from pulmonary tests and make recommendations to safety manager for fit testing.
Evaluate pre-employment lifting tests and make recommendations to hiring personnel and to managers for safe job placement.
Manage drug-free workplace policy for employees and arrange for appropriate drug screening.
Manage and work with the TPA on the worker s compensation program and maintain the OSHA 300 log.
Work with Safety to report monthly accident statistics.
Manage the plant s Wellness Programs including employee education and health screenings.
Ensure the Occupational Health Clinic is in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
Manage Worker s Comp programs and function as resource for FMLA and ADA programs.
Maintain a First Aid Response Team program by coordinating training and participating in emergency response.
Make provision for annual Blood Borne Pathogen classes to all First Aiders and update the BBP policy annually.
Maintain confidential medical records according to company policy and or State and Federal standards.
Attend and participate in accident investigations as needed.
Coordinate an annual health fair.
Manage the blood drives.
Effectively administers/coordinates the functions of the on-site clinic. Maintains a proper inventory of medical and emergency supplies.
Must be flexible to train First Aid Team members on off-shifts.

Nursing Degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing. Bachelor s degree required.
Nurse Practitioner plus prescriptive practice licensing preferred.
Current valid State of Utah Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license.
Minimum of 5 years experience in occupational health nursing with knowledge of OSHA regulations and Federal guidelines strongly preferred. COHN certification preferred.
Certification in hearing conservation through the Council of Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) preferred.
Certified respiratory technician preferred.
Ability to use sound nursing judgment and work independently.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
