Job Description

Torrey Pines Bank is seeking an Office Manager I/II in its Downtown Los Angeles location. This position will be responsible for the efficient, effective management of a medium size branch. The Office Manager directs the activities of branch staff, ensures that established policies and procedures are followed. Develops business checking and deposit relationships with customers; refers loan requests to lending personnel for businesses and individuals. Promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.

The Officer Manager will assure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four (4) year college or university, and

Level I – four (4) or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level II – six (6) or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work related experience should consist of an in-depth background in bank operations, compliance and supervisory skills. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry.

Advanced experience, knowledge and training in progressively responsible branch banking, management and supervisory activities.

Knowledge of BSA and the proven ability to identify and monitor high risk and money services businesses.

Advanced knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, Bank operational policies and procedures, and the Bank’s products and services.

Loan product knowledge.

Level I – Intermediate Level II - Advanced

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.

Supervisory skills to handle appropriate staff.

Level I – Intermediate Level II - Advanced

Knowledge of human resource and labor laws and policies.

Thorough understanding of management procedures; ability to plan branch activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, etc.); initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish branch activities; effectively staff (selecting, training and developing employees); directing employees towards the desired objectives (delegating, motivating, resolving problems); developing performance standards, measuring results, taking corrective action and rewarding employees as appropriate.

Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer (ITI) system; software programs of diverse functionality used by the Bank, including but not limited to, desktop applications and administrative programs and resources.

Typing skills to meet production needs of the position.

Intermediate math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.

Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.

Demonstrate strong analytical and project management skills for a variety of tasks or projects.

Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets, variables in non-standardized situations.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work with minimal or no supervision while performing duties.

Current state issued driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
