The On-Call Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the physicians and nurses in the preparation and delivery of health care to clinic patients by performing a variety of medically related tasks to ensure smooth patient flow for TUP Operations. The On-Call Medical Assistant performs clinical tasks such as taking patients' vital signs, weight, and documenting reason for visit in medical chart; may give injections, perform skin testing, urine tests, and draw blood; ensures that exam rooms are prepared for patient visits; schedules laboratory tests and completes necessary forms for physician referrals and hospitalizations; packages specimens for pick-up or delivery; delivers specimens and requisitions to lab and pharmacy; and receives and stores all medical and surgical supplies. In addition, the On-Call Medical Assistant will clean instruments and operate sterilizer; deliver patient care individualized relative to age/developmental and psycho-socio-cultural patient treatment needs; and will call in and retrieve necessary lab reports, ultrasound, x-rays and mammogram reports. Performs other duties as assigned.



Required Education and Experience:



Medical Assistant Certification with at least two years' experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.



Required Skills and Abilities:



*Demonstrated familiarity with medical terminology.



*Must possess effective and professional communication, detail oriented, able to complete tasks in a timely manner and organizational skills.



*Ability to maintain positive interactions with the patients, their families and associated medical professionals in a respectful and courteous manner.



*Must be self-motivated and able to adapt to change and work under stressful circumstances.



*Demonstrated proficiency in the operations of clinical equipment.



*Must be able to work a flexible schedule and travel to off-site locations that may not be accessible by public transportation; including Temple locations in Center City, Fort Washington, Oaks, and North East Philadelphia.



Preferred:



*Experience with EPIC and IDX.



*This is a Part-Time, On-Call Position.
