Job Description
OVERVIEW

* Provide technical design support for HVAC and Plumbing design projects.

* Provide technical design support to the design team for HVAC and Plumbing design projects.

* Technical design support includes HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, duct work and piping layout, Plumbing flow calculations, domestic water system design, equipment selection and piping layout.

* Design and constructability reviews of outside A&E firms designs.

* Provide on-site inspections of current projects for conformance with contract documents.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

* Thorough knowledge of sound mechanical and plumbing design engineering practice and principles through all phases of work (planning, design, estimating, scheduling, construction) and general knowledge of applicable codes and design methodologies.

* Demonstrated knowledge of building HVAC and plumbing systems, including heat pumps, DX systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handling and fan coil units, and constant and variable volume distribution systems; industrial ventilation, laboratory gases, domestic water and sanitary, specialty water systems.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrated professional manner with excellent customer service skills. Ability to work well and effectively with team members to produce a quality product.

* Ability to interpret and carry out complex oral and written instructions and feedback including the reading and interpretation of construction documents and specifications.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME)

* 7+ years ME construction experience; significant portion w/DOD SCIF construction and design

* JFAN experience a must

* Experience in the HVAC and Plumbing Consulting Engineering field required

* DOD experience w/Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) construction and design, including JFAN experience required

* Knowledge of DOD project protocols including SCIF ICD-705 standards preferred

* Professional engineering registration, preferred
