Under the general direction of the Manager of Health Information Services, the Operations Analyst works with management on workflow analysis and process redesign efforts for initiatives within the Health Information Management Departments sphere of interest.
In conjunction with Health Information Services managers and supervisors, the Analyst will assist with conducting research, investigating workflows and business procedures, and recommending changes. The Analyst will develop, generate, and review statistics, graphs, and numeric data to support analysis. Where there are deficiencies, s/he will suggest changes and prepare reports for department managers and supervisors.
In conjunction with other team members of the Business Services unit, s/he will develop/implement plans for changes to facilitate effective operations. In addition, the Operations Analyst will work to ensure that relevant compliance standards, regulations, policies and performance metrics are followed by conducting internal audits as requested.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in Partners/MGH project work groups and committees as HIS subject matter expert (SME) or representative for projects with HIS impact.
Works on special projects within the department. Identifies workflow/system improvements and work with supervisor and operations team to enact change. Typical duties include planning, developing, implementing and evaluating internal department programs and projects, coordinating project activities, developing measurable project goals and objectives, and monitoring progress toward achievement.
Provides assistance to other units within the department for workflow assessment and process improvement. Provides communication, analytical, and problem-solving expertise to assist in implementing new business process solutions.
Works with colleagues to organize and set up new reviews/analysis. Creates ad-hoc reports either in source system or via data export into database/spreadsheet. This includes any import functions, query building and report formatting required to deliver the desired results.
Serves as a liaison for department management to the Data Analysts within the Business Services Unit. Assists with collecting requirements for reporting and application development. Facilitates the translation of business requirements into functional specifications for programming by the data analysts.
Helps with testing applications based on established department use cases.
Participates as project team member (in various roles) for a variety of initiatives related to Health Information Management within Partners and at various clinical sites
Performs other duties as needed.

Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management, IS, Business, Communication, or related field is required.
Minimum of 2 years experience working on projects or process improvement efforts, required.
Experience in Health Information Management or in the administrative/business/clinical area of healthcare preferred.

Knowledge of the medical record, the patient care process and HIS operations. Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
Understanding or demonstrated ability to interpret healthcare regulatory requirements and hospital policy
