The Superior Group is presently recruiting an Operations Manager for the Injection Molding group with our client in the Buffalo area.

The Injection Molding Manager will be responsible for the engineering of plastic specific to injection molding in the company’s molding clean room. They will be responsible to direct and control the activities of Molding Production Area using Lean Manufacturing principles, oversee and manage area operation through direct reports, and drive the implementation of corporate strategies, ensuring customer satisfaction and program success.

Job Duties

Managing people; consistent policy deployment (safety, absenteeism, discipline, systems)
Accountable for business metrics (safety, quality, delivery, and cost)
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of production area for design, manufacturing, and validation of tooling, molds and automation, ensuring that procedures and complete sets of documentation are developed and provided to the manufacturing group for each program.
Implement and sustain Lean principles in production area including SMED, Kanban, Kaizen, and Single-Piece with established schedules, budgets and goals.
Establish work plan and staffing for the molding project area.
Confer with management staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
Identify, hire and train technicians and associates as well as advise subordinates in the more complex phases of their work.
Responsible for delivering high quality products on time, within established budgetary standards.
Proven ability to solve problems.
Establishing metrics to measure the progress and activities of the production area and issuing status reports as needed.
Communicate with customers to understand their needs, preferences, and perspectives.
Ensure that the customer's requirements are fully considered when developing initiatives and implementing change.
Lead cross functional teams to achieve timely, within budget results, with products and processes that meet or exceed requirements.
Clearly articulate opportunities to Senior Management and develop creative approaches to address current and future challenges.
Establish project strategy, execute the plan and measure results.
Responsible for making decisions regarding the appropriate risk.
Anticipate opportunities for proactive solutions. Manage conflict situations to result in win-win outcomes.
Design and technical oversight for all aspects of molding projects
Demonstrate knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Other duties as assigned


Ensure cost containment levels are maintained.
Recommend/Design processes/machines for streamlining work.
Analyze potential areas for savings or efficiencies.

Safety Responsibilities
All department managers are responsible and senior management will hold them accountable for supporting safety within the workplace.
Department managers will take a leadership role in the safety program by accepting responsibility for losses occurring under their supervision. Among a department manager's responsibilities are:

Enforcing safety rules and regulations within the workplace fairly and equally for all employees.
Promoting Safety Committee meetings to address hazards, conditions or changes in procedures.
Promoting documented self-inspections to identify unsafe conditions and hazards.
Recognizing department employees who promote safe practices.
Participating in safety meetings, providing direction when appropriate.
Supporting periodic safety inspections.
Reviewing safety function parameters, making appropriate changes in procedures.
Participating in accident investigations to determine root causes and control
Taking corrective action as appropriate.
