Distribution Center Operations Supervisor

Brief Posting Description
The Distribution Center Operations Supervisor provides leadership in the distribution center to optimize service, productivity, quality, employee morale and reduce operating expense.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Achieve all performance measurement objectives as they relate to productivity, quality, service and safety.
Balance staff for all operational areas to maximize assets and resources to achieve both inbound and outbound service requirements/standards.
Ensure that all procedures are observed, implemented, enforced, and training is provided when necessary.
Perform statistical analysis as they relate to performance measurements and take appropriate action when required.
Protect the assets of the DC to include inventory, people, equipment, and systems.
Foster cohesiveness between all operating departments as to the disposition and balance of work and workforce to gain and maximize efficiencies.
* Comply with the payroll processing activities to ensure that all requirements are met to achieve accurate and on time payment to all personnel.
* Coordinate vacation scheduling to ensure that both inbound and outbound service requirements are met.
* Maintain attendance and counseling records to comply with established policies.
* Respond in a timely and professional manner to all employees.
Balance the inbound appointments to compress the supply chain/lead time and to balance workload and space requirements.
Manage the unloading, check-in and put-away process to ensure that all service standards as they relate to inbound are met.
Ensure that all moves (lines received) are completed on standard.
Ensure that branch returns are processed within established standards.
Resolve and reconcile all strays expeditiously to maximize service and inventory availability.
Ensure that all service standards as they relate to order processing are met to include wave management, picking, packing and replenishments.
Ensure that all service standards as they relate to outbound shipping are met to include packing, post packing and loading.
Ensure that bills are cut on time to achieve on time carrier dispatch.
Work with carriers to resolve discrepancies/issues to maximize service commitments by both WESCO and carriers.
Work with the WESCO Transportation Department to maximize transportation efficiencies.
Recommend/Implement programs with cost improvements towards lower operating costs (productivity, utilities, safety, supplies, etc.).
Provide strong leadership to all personnel to meet and exceed performance targets.
Encourage personnel development at all levels to ensure future growth and reduce turnover.
Ensure consistent administration of policies and practices.
Ensure that all performance appraisals are completed on time to ensure on time merit increases.
Recruitment of new employees to include selection, orientation and training/coaching.
Provide initial training and orientation to all new employees to include temporaries.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills.
Managing one's own time and the time of others.
Excellent communication and computer skills
