Operations & Maintenance Technician II
Responsible for the safe and reliable start-up, operation and continuous monitoring of gas turbines, boilers, electric generators, chillers, steam distribution system, steam turbines, and ancillary equipment as directed by the Operations Supervisor and Plant Manager. Also performs maintenance activities on plant and/or satellite equipment as directed.

Under supervision and direction of the Control Room Operator, stands watch as Auxiliary Operator as assigned, monitors on watch system voltage, amps, Kw, KV, pressures, temperatures, flow and other critical parameters of combustion turbines, steam turbines, generators, chilled water production units, boilers, and electric, steam, and chilled water distribution systems.
Operates combustion turbines, steam turbines, generators, as well as chillers, boilers and ancillary equipment.
Takes effective action to reduce the effect of equipment casualties.
Assures that prescribed water management procedures are being followed.
Oversees fuel oil and natural gas transfer and storage at assigned plant.
Performs selective corrective, preventive, predictive maintenance, post maintenance testing, and housekeeping activities.
Initiates work orders for identification and repair of in plant and satellite equipment.
Effectively utilize the company Asset Management system for work scheduling and purchasing.
Maintains required records of operations in a clear and precise manner.
Oversees completion of all prescribed records and logs at assigned plants.
Maintains safe working conditions, identifies and corrects or reports unsafe conditions in work areas, performs duties in accordance with all applicable safety policies and procedures.
Ensures compliance with Environmental Regulations and Permits.
Complies with all operating and maintenance procedures.
Acts as a team member with all employees of ENGIE staff.
Complies with all ENGIE policies and procedures.
OTHER FUNCTIONSCarries out other duties as assigned.
Valid driver's license and must be insurable by company's vehicle insurance carrier.
Hands-on familiarity with power plant operations, production, or maintenance environment.
Ability to respond to plant emergencies/call-ins (day or night) holiday, weekend.
Ability to work rotating shifts involving weekends, holidays,backshifts and overtime.
Must possess a high degree of initiative and judgment.
Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
Good verbal and written communications skills are essential.
Ability to use personal computer, calculator, familiarity with Microsoft Office etc. Capable of frequently standing, walking, balancing, sitting, climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks, stacks and the like as required), stooping, squatting, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting (min. 50lbs), feeling, talking and hearing.
Capable of performing repetitive motions as required.
Required to have eyesight corrected at 20/40 to accurately read and interpret such as but not limited to instruments, gauges, and manuals.
Must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space (crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas, pipes and the like) as required.
Must be physically capable of performing demanding work at various heights and in adverse conditions during operations, shutdowns, and in fire/emergency activities.
Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses etc.
Ability to pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test (if applicable).
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.
High School Diploma or Equivalent GED required (minimum).
Minimum of five years of experience in operating stationary or marine boilers is preferred.
Must apply and obtain Stationary Engineers license.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
90% of the work is performed indoors and 10% is performed outdoors.
