POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:



*

The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Eye Center Physicians, Ltd patient programs that involve special processing and selection of patients, patient scheduling, and special reporting and collecting of data.
*

The programs currently include Refractive Surgery, IMT (Implantable Miniature Telescope) Selection and Surgery, Patient Relations and Recovery Program, and Premium IOLs Preoperative Processing.
*

Must be current in knowledge of the program, the program requirements, the specific external/internal environment associated with the program, and is able to report on and discuss the activity details of each program.



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:



*

Responsible for data entry (volumes and expenses) for reporting of clinical outcomes and financial review, providing ophthalmic technical expertise, physician assistance, patient education and counseling, during the pre, post, and perioperative periods.
*

Acts as a liaison for each patient during his (her) comprehensive evaluation, treatment, follow-up visits and all facets needed for the care. The coordinator is responsible for conducting preoperative evaluations as well as interpreting the physician s operative plan.
*

Provides direct communication to all patients interested in the program. This includes fielding calls, scheduling patients, counseling, educating, and reaching out if necessary during any point during the program process.
*

Counsels prospective patients in a balanced manner on the enhanced quality of life that treatment gives. Educates patients in risks and benefits, payment options, and realistic outcomes.
*

Provides all ophthalmic technical assistance and support to the patient. This includes such activities as rooming the patient and conducting preliminary review, visual acuities, lensometry, corneal topography, and other diagnostic testing. It also includes set up and surgical support on surgery day.
*

Assists in the planning and execution of marketing, including benefits fair and web site maintenance.
*

Organizes and maintains all aspects of the program including but not limited to patient satisfaction and referral data; patient inquiry, counseling and consultation communication;
*

Maintains and participates in other future and ongoing (i.e. Implantable Miniature Telescopic Lens Selection, Triton College Practicum Rotation) Programs as assigned.
*

Participates in research clinical trials as assigned including participating as a mask examiner, performing refraction, visual acuity, etc. Agrees to review the study documentation and certify for each study assigned.
*

Assumes the role of surgical scheduling coordinator as standby and assists the position when needed.
*

Provides ophthalmic technical support as needed and as assigned by the manager.
*

Must maintain CPR certification.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:



*

High School Diploma required. Bachelor s degree preferred.
*

JCAHPO certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Assistant (COA) required.
*

Minimum of 3 years of experience in the area of refractive
*

Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Ophthalmic tech
*

Must have an understanding of the operation of an ophthalmic ambulatory clinic & Lasik Center. Knowledge and skills working with an EMR and scheduling system.
*

Must have solid communication and interpersonal skills and great customer service skills
*

Be able to work under time constraints and multi-task.
