PACCAR s Information Technology Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA utilizes cutting edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire Corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.
Database Administrator is responsible for project-based database implementations as well as monitoring, maintenance and support of existing Oracle databases for PACCAR. As a subject matter expert, this position will serve in a leadership role, directing and managing all aspects of Oracle database administration including coordinating with SAP Basis Administrators, Server Administrators and Application Developers.
Act as subject matter expert for the Oracle database platform and related technologies
Provide timely resolution for all Oracle issues, including root cause analysis
Act in a leadership role by mentoring other Oracle DBAs and assigning work as needed
Create, test, and maintain Oracle backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
Implement and maintain database security in accordance with company security policies
Perform database tuning and monitoring
Provide 24x7 operational support in an on-call rotation
Plan and implement all Oracle software installation, configuration, and upgrades
Conduct patch analysis and implementation to keep the Oracle environment current
Provide support to the SAP Competency Center, software developers, and support staff
Follow change management procedures and policies
Create and maintain Oracle database procedures and standards
Manage Oracle licensing and compliance
7+ years of Oracle database administration experience in a production environment
Demonstrated experience with Oracle releases 10gR2 and 11gR2, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Recovery Manager (RMAN)
In-depth knowledge of AIX and shell scripting
Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and upgrading Oracle server software; performing database tuning and performance monitoring; installing, configuring and maintaining Oracle Enterprise Manager
Demonstrated experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and execute on assigned deliverables
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and guidance
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
Knowledge of the truck or automotive business desired
Education Required
Bachelor s Degree in Business, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field
