Job Description

Oracle Sr. Systems Analyst

6 MONTH CONTRACT TO HIRE (CONVERSION SALARY: $90,000 TO $95,000 PER YEAR).

W2 CONTRACT; RATE: $60.00 PER HOUR.

Primary role:

A Senior Systems Analyst within the Enterprise Applications Group with a primary role on DBA work. This individual will work with a team responsible for Database Administration including Design, Build, Deploy, and Maintain. The database layer infrastructure deployed by this team supports various clinical and business applications. These applications are hosted on multiple systems and database layer platforms, including Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server database engines along with IBM AIX Servers, SunSolaris Servers and Windows 2k.x Servers. Our team is responsible for supporting Oracle, Sybase and SQL Server databases. We currently have several SQL Server databases and eighty Oracle servers. We also have a few Sybase servers that we maintain for mostly older applications. We provide 24x7 coverage for many critical hospital databases. We are searching for an experienced Oracle 'system' DBA with prior experience upgrading, monitoring, backing up and restoring, and patching Oracle (versions 8.1.7 thru 10g) databases. We rely heavily on Perl programs for routine maintenance and are looking for a DBA strongly grounded in UNIX and Perl. The candidate will be working with our existing DBA staff to provide support for our systems. Ultimately the candidate is expected to assist with supporting SQL Server and Sybase databases but initially be focusing on the Oracle Servers. Additional training will be available as need, time, and budget permits.

Essential tasks/responsibilities:

* Provide technical experience in the analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of Database solutions that will ensure optimum performance, availability and recoverability.

* Provide automated database monitoring and reporting with a focus on leveraging the established Tivoli architecture.

* Analyze and improve database performance.

* Troubleshoot production failures and resolve.

* Plan and implement disaster recovery policies and procedures.

* Maintain databases ensuring data privacy and security as defined by HIPAA and company policies.

* Assist developers in database designs.

* Provide liaison support for technology issues.

* Research new technologies and recommend appropriate applications.

* Provide 24x7 coverage for many critical database systems.

* Ensure security of technology solutions.

* Author, implement, execute, and periodically update System Security, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery Plans to be consistent with company policies and standards regarding security and HIPAA compliance.

* Design, implement, maintain, upgrade, and patch systems to be compliant with company security policies and standards regarding protection from external and internal security attacks.

* Administer, validate, and review user and system accounts, access controls, audit logs and system integrity to maximize system security and data confidentiality.

* Research and remediate generic and system-specific vulnerabilities.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

Required:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, math, or a computer related field, equivalent technical training.

Experience Required:

* Five years of progressive Oracle Database Administration.

* Oracle database administration Oracle RMAN SQL Server Shell/script programming.

* Strong analytical, computer and communication skills.

Preferred:

* Oracle iASOracle OEM Tivoli (TDPM) Experience with high availability/cluster implementations.

* Technical proficiency in additional OS, including Solaris and Linux, and/or Windows.

* Competence in programming language.

* Previous experience in Healthcare profession with patient care/clinical applications/systems.

Special competencies/credentials Required:

* Strong organizational skills, project management skills, documentation/writing skills.
