Job Description

We are seeking a PC Systems Technician to help support our staff. The successful candidate will work with the other members of the Computer and Network Services (CNS) department to perform tasks including:

- Setting up computers running Windows XP and 7
- Installing and customizing PC-based software packages on staff computers, such as Microsoft Office, 2007 Visual Studio, Adobe Creative Suite, and SAS - Supporting Windows operating environment by configuring initial Windows installs
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, and printer problems
- Training and supporting users
- Providing computer and videoconferencing support for meetings
- Smartphone support, laptop support, and desktop backup system support
- Developing and maintaining systems for installing PC's, printers, and other PC related equipment
- BA/BS in Computer Science preferred and experience in a computer support environment is a plus
- Experience in the installation and problem-resolution of PC's, printers, and other peripherals in a professional work environment
- Candidates must be able to pass a background check/security clearance
- Demonstrated ability to support Windows operating environment
- Knowledgeable in the installation and support of a variety of PC-based software packages such as Microsoft Office and upgrade paths
- Experience with desktop applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases is desirable
- A working knowledge of network work environments (Windows) is a plus
- Accuracy with work, strong organizational skill, and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with others professionally
- Flexibility to handle multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadline pressure
