Facility: John C. Lincoln Hospital - Deer Valley at Phoenix
Department: Nursing Administration
The Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing selected patient care activities working under the direction of an RN/Supervisor.
Recognizes changes in patient condition and reports to appropriate person as evidenced by documentation.
Applies appropriate techniques in range of motion, transferring, ambulating and positioning of patients as evidenced by observation.
Applies protective restraints safely and appropriately as evidenced by observation.
Demonstrates ability to perform in emergency situations as evidenced by observation.
Assists in the admission, discharge and transfer of patients as evidenced by documentation and/or observation.
Demonstrates competency in some or all of these selected technical skills: insertion and care of Foley catheters, sterile technique and simple dressings, discontinuation of IVs, Blood glucose, I & O monitoring, phlebotomy, EKG, set up and maintaining traction equipment , splinting (for Emergency Services).
Responds to patient requests and call lights in a timely manner as evidenced by customer feedback and observation.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or Equivalent
Current BCLS
Certified Nursing Assistant, (CNA)orNational Registry or Arizona Certification as Emergency Medical Tech (EMT), Intermediate Emergency Medical Tech (IEMT), or ParamedicorCurrent nursing student who has successfully completed the 1st clinical semester of nursing school (Note: current proof of enrollment as nursing student must be provided)
Experience reading LCD monitors and use of touch screens is preferred. Pool/On-call Day and night shifts Related course work is required
