Private practice opportunity with group made up of Drs. Tim Gannon, Steve Harris, Kent Nunnally, Warren Rollins and Joe Frank Smith (all otolaryngologists) and Dr. Paul Motta(immunologyallergy) and two audiologists. They are very interested in finding someone who has a plastic facial interest because it is an identified need in this area. The physicians use both Southeast Alabama Medical Center and Flowers Hospital (offices are located within close proximity of each hospital) as well as the adjacent Dothan Surgery Center (ambulatory surgery center). Call is 1:5 (every 5th weekend and rotating weeknights. The payor mix is 59% BC, 24% Medicare and 7.5% Medicaid. Competitive compensation with benefits and 1st year income guarantee with salaryquarterly performance bonuses following the 1st year. A physician recently left to be closer to his spouses ailing father. bCOMMUNITY:b Nestled in the SE corner of Alabama and in close proximity to Florida and Georgia, Dothan, AL has a referral area of 624,000 and serves as a shoppingretail hub. The public school system is excellent and operated by the city. There are several academic and private schools available also. Economically rated #1 in retail sales per capita in Alabama, it offers excellent shopping opportunities, i.e., Barnes and Nobles, Target, Dillards, etc. and numerous recognized restaurants (Olive Garden, Longhorns, Outback, etc.) Dothan has the lowest cost of living in AL and is ranked 8th lowest nationally. Dothan was recognized by Business Week as Alabamas 2010 Best Places to Raise Your Kids with its family-oriented quality of life with outdoor recreational areas including a Robert Trent Jones golf course, nearby Lake Eufaula and Lake Seminole. Dothan is Home of the National Peanut Festival and has a botanical gardens and opera house. biBeautiful white sandy Gulf beachesib are a little over an hour away at Panama City, FL (73 miles) and Destin (83 miles). bFACILITY:b Southeast Alabama Medical Center, a 420-bed facility established in 1957, is one of the largest not-for- profit tertiary referral centers in Alabama. Owned and operated by the Houston County Healthcare Authority, it serves over 785,000 in a 75 mile radius around Dothan, Houston County and its surrounding tri-state (AL- FL- GA) area. In addition to offering clinical services ranging from comprehensive rehabilitation to nutritional counseling, it also offers 20 ORs with state of the art technology --2 hybrid vascular ORs ; Level 2 trauma center with 11 EM residency trained EM physicians and volumes approaching 58,000; 5 interventional catheterization (and EP laboratory) labs; comprehensive cancer center; diabetes treatment center; outpatient tower with streamlined services; pain management center staffed by fellowship trained anesthesiologists; neurodiagnostics center with 6 sleep rooms; comprehensive radiology services including 2 interventional labs (cardiology and vascular) and 2 short-bore MRIs, 3 CT scanners (including 64 row CT) and Pet Scanner; 32 ICU beds; Womens Imaging Center; Family Birth Center with 27 LDRPS and 2 dedicated c-section rooms; 24 hr nurse call center; dedicated inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services; wound carehyperbarics center; and a screening vehicle to assist with the early identification of DM, vascular conditions and prostate cancer. Southeast Alabama Medical Center is developing its own private college of osteopathic medicine on the SAMC campus. Construction on the 120,000-square-foot facility could begin in January 2011. The hospital is planning a $15 million operating budget for the college. The first class of 150 students is expected to enroll in the fall of 2012.
