PLANT ENGINEERING INTERN - CARVILLE

This supervised position will allow for a college student who is seeking a career in the power industry to apply as well as enhance their knowledge with regard to all aspects power plant engineering and operation. This position will require the individual to work a normal day shift as well as rotating shift when required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : 1. Assist Plant shift operations including local starting and stopping of equipment. 2. Assist in Maintain shift operating logs and records when required. 3. Read and record gauges and meters when required. 4. Assist while under direct supervision by a qualified Calpine Employee with mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, inspections, and troubleshooting. 5. Assist in development of standard procedures for operations. 6. Assist plant in project development. 7. Perform other duties as assigned while under the direct supervision of a Calpine employee. 8. Report to and take day-to-day instructions, both written and verbal, from the Plant Operator A, Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager and Plant Engineer. Job Requirements 1. At least 1 year of experience in the operation of a power plant or related industry, or have and evaluated experience level. 2. Basic knowledge of the kinds and types of equipment installed at a power plant. 3. Ability to read blueprints, procedures and other written communications in the English language. 4.
