JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Overview
Lecturers serve as either part-time or full-time (regular or temporary) members of the faculty in the School of Business. FTE is determined by the course load. Lecturers are a non-tenure track faculty position. Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses offered by the School of Business on the Lawrence and/or Edwards Campus.
Lecturers serve as participating members of departments and should engage in instruction-related activities beyond direct instruction. Examples include curriculum development committees, course improvement initiatives, and advising.
Applications will be reviewed and placed in a pool to be considered for teaching positions as needed. Applications will be accepted throughout the year. Appointments are one semester, renewable, subject to review and funding. The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.
100%- Teach 2 to 4 credit hour required or elective courses (undergraduate or Master s program) each semester in the Business Law area addressing the following subject matter: agency law, the law of business associations (partnerships, LLCs and corporations), and securities regulation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to course preparation, consultations, and assignment of course grades. Lecturers should abide by the area s, School s and University's policies and procedures.
1) A J.D. degree
2) A clear ability to effectively teach courses in business law at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
1) A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching courses in business law.
2) A strong record of professional experience in the practice of business law.
3) Ability to design and deliver new course successfully.
3) Strong ties to the business law professional community as demonstrated by employment or consulting activities.
